Fairytale of New York
This is the first time in 11 years that I haven't spent Christmas in New York; the pain of which defies description.

Meanwhile, across the Chanel.
250 Chanel workers en France went on strike on
Thursday to protest about the lousy 1% pay rise being offered. This makes me happy because, 1) I think Karl Lagerfeld is a fascist, and 2) hell yes, for once people actually stick up for something and pull together.

Seedy Soho Society
And whilst I am still playing around with Amazon...I am currently reading Soho Society by the ineffable Bernardo Katz with whom I used to work. Good God it's dark, it's truly captures the seedy undercurrent that always existed in The Groucho Club.

Prospect Park West
Sarah Jessica Parker shows her off her twins.
I'm really sorry I had to do this post, I just HAD to write that headline.
Unfortunateness of this image aside, what I really don't get is it's frrrrreeezing in New York right now, why the hell are you wearing just a sheet? And also what is with the ballet tie style tights?

Lip dubs and Vimeo being sued
Lip Dub - Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger from amandalynferri on Vimeo.
I would like to point out that I had this story up before Gawker, Sonia Magazine is incredibly speedy with the news sometimes.

Um...
Someone I politely knew was killed pretty grimly yesterday, I'm not going to link to the story right now because it's making my stomach churn. Plus does anybody's family want their relations death all over the internet? You can't even die in peace and private anymore.
It has really shaken me up, taken me back to a certain place, is and making me re-question a few things as reminders of mortality always do. These mortality reminders are particularly piquing when that person was relatively young, and was one of those bounce around, full of life people who had really taken the reigns of life and played against the system to do what she wanted to do.
Yet another reminder that you can be loving life one minute, and knocked off your bike and gone the next.. And yet there is still no happy medium to be found for living in the now versus the plan of the rest of your life. And those shock sudden deaths leave so much unsaid and undone. Urgh death, perhaps a topic too heavy for a blog, but where else are these things discussed.
I hope she was knocked unconscious straightaway and so didn't feel too much pain. I can hear her voice in my head and picture her vividly in a couple of scenarios. Memories haunting much?

Quick stuff thing
Ok so my UK audience (wait I'm the only one reading this thing) posssibly hasn't heard of the website Etsy yet. It's a funny little thing which sells hand-made 'stuff'. Whilst there are some things on there that are perfectly tasty like this jewellery, other things are wow jeez, don't even know what to say, just wow jeez like this donkey.
The mockashockability of so many of the 'goods' has led to another website springing up called Regretsy which pretty much features all of the wow jeez WHY! stuff. Check it, funny stuff.

Very Useful Website
I am finding this website increasing useful http://www.internetslang.com, the clue of which is very much in the title.
I recently had a friend ask me what OMG meant, which is ZOMG! WTF? ridiculous, but even I, who is what feels like online all of the time and happens to l.o.v.e. words, am finding it increasing difficult to keep up with the internet kids and their acronyms. Henceforth internetslang.com v useful. PO (that's peace out, I made that one up).
